At Slots of Vegas, we love land-based casinos as much as anyone else. After all, we’ve got Vegas in our name. So every now and then we like to keep you up to date on what’s happening in the land-based casino world.
Today, unfortunately, our stories all revolve around crime. We hope some of these news items will serve as a reminder to be vigilant and aware of your surroundings when visiting a land-based casino.
Woman robs man en route casino
A woman sporting a mask robbed a man at gunpoint in Mississippi as he was on his way to the Isle of Capri Casino last Sunday. According to the victim, a woman wearing a mask robbed him in the parking lot, right after he left his vehicle. She fled the scene with $100 and hopped into a Chevy Malibu, which was being driven by a male accomplice.
Police search for suspect after Las Vegas casino robbery
Now this story doesn’t make any sense to us, but here it is anyway. Police in Las Vegas are searching for a suspect after he pulled a gun on a cashier at a Las Vegas casino and demanded money. The casino is located near Flamingo Road and Las Vegas Boulevard. The event happened on November 26th.
So why doesn’t this story make sense? Because police aren’t saying which casino the event unfolded at, which really doesn’t help with finding credible witnesses who might have seen something happen in the targeted casino. For the record, if we’re talking about casinos around that corner, we could be talking about Bellagio, Paris, Planet Hollywood, Caesars, Flamingo, O’Sheas, The Quad, and others. Well played, Las Vegas Police Department. Well played.
Robber sentenced to 10 years in slammer for casino heist
And a bit of good news. It turns out that all these robberies really don’t pay. A man in New York has been sentenced to 10 years in jail for robbing Turning Stone Casino back in August. He marched up to the cashier, informed the teller that he had a gun, and made off with a bunch of money. He pleaded guilty, and now he’s doing the time.
