We hope you enjoyed our first installment in our Unbelievable Casino Stories series. We know you’re probably still picking your jaw up off the floor, but don’t bother. There’s good reason to keep it there because we’ve got a bunch more stories that are truly out of this world.
Poker pros to participate in MMA fight
This one doesn’t necessarily have to do with a casino, but it’s crazy nonetheless. If you thought things got intense at the World Series of Poker with gold bracelets and victory titles on the line, wait until you hear about this. Poker pros JC Alvarado and Oliver Busquet are stepping into the ring in April 2016 to duke it out. The two will participate in an MMA fight, putting up big money in the 6-figure fight. Alvarado, who weighs 165 lbs is putting up $150,000 while Busquet stands to lose $120,000. He weighs 187.5 lbs. We’re guessing with more money on the line, Alvarado is the favorite to win.
Roulette player capitalizes on unbalanced wheel
You’ve heard of Roulette betting systems where you alter your bet based on wins and losses, right? Well, back in the 1800s, Joseph Jagger found a better way to win at Roulette. He secretly recorded the results of 6 different Roulette wheels and reviewed the results. While 5 out of the 6 wheels showed that the numbers were completely random, one wheel kept hitting the same number all too frequently. He concluded that the wheel was unbalanced. Over the course of four days, he won $300,000, which is a ridiculous amount of money today — and even crazier back then.
Man loses, gets Rolls Royce
Who says losing doesn’t pay? A Chinese-Mexican gambler who lost over $120 million playing at the Venetian in Las Vegas was given a Rolls Royce as a token of appreciation. I’m going to level with you here. At Slots of Vegas, we’ve never done that. But you definitely can win enough money to buy a Rolls Royce if you pop one of our jackpots.
High Roller wins $32 million playing poker…by cheating
It’s never fun losing a game of poker. I’ve played cash games in Vegas and lost. And I’ve lost playing online. But those losses rarely get above the $100 mark. Still, it stings. I don’t know how I’d feel if I lost millions of dollars playing poker, but I know I’d go nuts if I found out I lost to a guy who cheated. And that very scenario played out in Australia, when a high-roller colluded with the security team to cheat at poker. The amateur poker player appeared to look like a pro thanks to security cameras that zoomed into his opponents’ cards. A couple of security guards monitoring the cameras fed the cheater details of what his opponents were holding through an earpiece. He was kicked out when everyone found out what was happening, but he allegedly got to keep his money. Crazy.
